Things to take care while Selecting Baby Bath Tub

Baby bath tubs make life easier for parents because they are a more compact structure to bath your baby. Regardless of where you are bathing your baby, you will need to support your little one with one hand to prevent the child from sliding into the water. There are bath tubs that have a liner of fabric or mesh that prevents the baby from making lots of movement when in the tub. Some tub designs come with an interior lined with foam to relax the baby in a partly up right position. When the baby becomes six month old, an infant tub will become too small to accommodate the baby to take a bath. There are actually tubs that can accommodate toddlers and new born who weigh up to 25 pounds.

After about 9 months, a child will outgrow this kind of baby bath tub. At such times it will become necessary to consider having a regular size bath tub for the baby. You will have to put in enough water in the tub to a shallow level. Test the water to ensure that it is neither too hot nor too cold. Test run the bath tub by giving your baby his first bath. This means that it should not be a true bath but rather a sponge bath. You will have to wait a while before giving your baby a true bath as you will have to wait for the stub of the umbilical cord to fall off. Once the umbilical cord falls off, then you can start giving your baby a regular bath every day as you desire.

When you purchase a baby bath tub, it is better to select one that has contours inside or is fitted with a tub insert to keep the baby's head above the water at all times. If the bath tub has no contours, it will not have an insert. The baby tubs are meant to fit in like a sink and can also be converted to a tub that can be placed in a regular bath tub when the baby now able to sit up. Also available are tubs designed like a bucket that has a foam insert for the purpose of holding the baby in an upright position in the water and makes the baby feel as though they are still in the womb. However these bucket-like tubs make it difficult to reach the knees of the baby as the design is pretty compact.
